The first screen of EMAPKA has one checkbox and a link that says "Full information on the official website". This page is that information.
The promise in the application#
This is the exact wording you see in EMAPKA when you open What you are agreeing to:
Technical diagnostic logs help us find and fix errors. They do not contain your messages, names, or personal data. Full details on the official website.
Everything below explains that sentence and does not narrow it. If you ever find a difference between what the application promises and what this page says, treat it as a defect and tell us: Contact.
What is being sent today#
What a diagnostic log contains#
A diagnostic log is a record of something going wrong inside the application. It is written in the language of the program, not in yours.
- The name of the event and the moment it happened — for example, that a parcel was sealed, sent, received, or that sending timed out.
- The kind of failure — a timeout, a broken protocol step, a violated internal rule, a crash.
- A technical identifier that ties one operation together, so that a failure can be followed from beginning to end. It is a random number for that operation, not for you.
- The version of the application and of the operating system, because a defect often exists only in one of them.
- Counts and sizes — how many attempts, how many bytes. Numbers, not content.
What is never collected#
Not by consent, not by accident, not "in an anonymised form". These things do not enter a diagnostic log at all.
- The text of your messages. Not a fragment, not a length-preserving copy, not a hash of it.
- Your name or anyone else's name. Neither the name you gave yourself in a group nor the name of the group.
- Your files, photographs or documents, or their names.
- Your contacts or address book. EMAPKA never reads them.
- Your location. The application does not ask for it and does not use it.
- A phone number or an email address. EMAPKA has no registration, so it never had one.
- Who is in a group with whom. The composition of a group never leaves the participants' devices.
- Anything for advertising or profiling. EMAPKA has no advertising and sells nothing to anyone.
What stays on your device#
Everything that matters. Messages, files, group keys and the names of your groups live on your own computer, encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The key that opens them never leaves it.
When you delete a group, leave one, or use Delete key, the keys are destroyed, and what they protected becomes unreadable at that moment — including for us. There is no copy anywhere. This is why recovery does not exist.
What the server sees#
EMAPKA uses one server, and only as a post box. It is called a relay because it relays and nothing more.
- It receives a sealed parcel — bytes it cannot open. The encryption happens on the sender's device and is undone only on the recipient's.
- It does not know who is in a group, how many people there are, or that a group exists. Delivery to several people is done by the sending application, one addressee at a time.
- It holds a parcel until the addressee collects it, then deletes it. An uncollected parcel is deleted after a set period — fourteen days by default.
- It has no directory of users, because there are no users to list. There is no registration, no profile, no phone number.
- Traffic to it is protected by TLS with an ordinary public certificate. A self-signed certificate is refused by the application.
Like any server, it can see the technical envelope of a connection: an address it was contacted from, the size of what arrived, the time it arrived. It cannot see what is inside.
This website#
- No cookies. The site sets none.
- No counters and no trackers. There is no analytics of any kind on these pages.
- Nothing loaded from anywhere else. Fonts, styles and images all come from this site. Opening this page contacts no other company.
- One thing is remembered in your browser — the language you chose, so the site does not ask twice. It stays in your browser and is never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data removes it.
- The web server keeps ordinary access records for a short time, as every web server does, to stay running and to survive an attack.
Your rights#
EMAPKA is developed and distributed within the European Union, and European data protection law applies to it. Because the application has no accounts and collects no personal data, there is normally nothing held about you to request, correct or erase. If you believe otherwise, write to us and say so.
Changes to this page#
If what the application collects ever changes, this page changes on the same day, and the wording in the application changes with it. The two are checked against each other; a difference between them is treated as a defect in the product.
